Paul Harold Lavietes was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1907. He received his B.S. degree from the Sheffield Scientific School, Yale University in 1927 and his M.D. from the Yale School of Medicine in 1930. Lavietes was a physician on the staff of the Yale School of Medicine from 1932 until his retirement in 1987.
